A marvellous oasis far from everything: imposing and sinuous dunes of fine, warm and golden sand, up to 60 metres high, shaped by the mistral, extend from the hinterland for several kilometres until they plunge into the blue, boundless and shining sea. Piscinas, 'jewel' of the Costa Verde - in the territory of Arbus -, is similar to an oriental painting, a landscape that leaves you breathless, a beach not to be missed during your holiday on the island, listed among the most beautiful in the world by National Geographic. After having walked along dirt and sandy paths, you will suddenly see its immense and deep golden expanse, seven kilometers long. On the horizon, the blue of the sea and the sky merge, while the brilliant sand dunes, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, mingle with the colours of the Mediterranean scrub. The vegetation grows luxuriantly: age-old junipers with twisted branches, mastic trees and wild olive trees that form small groves and, in spring, wallflowers, sea lilies and sand poppies. Here, every now and then, the Sardinian deer wanders about, while sea turtles lay their eggs on the shore. Its size always allows a quiet isolation. It is no coincidence that a large stretch (800 metres) has officially become the largest naturist beach in Europe since 2018. In addition, the inhabited centres are very far away and the accommodation facilities are few: a campsite and a hotel close to the dunes. On the beach you will find two panoramic kiosks-restaurants and you can rent beach equipment, canoes, skates and rafts. The parking area is also equipped for campers. The clear seabed is almost immediately deep, with a stepped conformation: from a minimum of two to three metres it soon reaches tens of metres. During your dive you will explore the site where the wreck of an English ship has been resting for three centuries, 200 metres from the shore. The mouths of two streams attract fish hunting for mullet near the shore. For surf casting enthusiasts, it will be a pleasure to know that mormoras, ombrines and bream populate the waters. The wild sea of the Costa Verde is rarely calm, always to be respected. The constant wind raises long and high waves, making it a destination for surfers: windsurfing, kiting and board surfing are practiced here even in winter.
