Dam Square

Dam Square, the throbbing heart of Amsterdam. Its notable buildings and frequent events make it one of the best-known and most important locations in the city and the country. Located in the center of the capital's old city, the square is situated where a dam on the Amstel river was once erected, givin the square, and the city itself, their names. The famous square contains The New Church, the Royal Palace, a Madame Tussauds museum, Ripley's Believe It or Not museum and the famous National Monument.
